A Collective Impact Conference
October 9-10, 2012
The Junior League of Portland in partnership with Abolition Now, hosted a Collective Impact conference at the World Forestry Center on Wednesday, October 10th. Over 70 participants from 46 different groups, organizations and 18 volunteers gathered to consider a Collective Impact model which is designed to bring together an entire community to stop the sexual exploitation of children in Oregon.
The conference included a panel discussion of some of the area’s most experienced leaders. Participants dreamed of a city without sex trafficking, identified holes in systems, missing elements in the fight, organizational strengths and next steps. Several key work groups and new projects were formed for future community involvement. The Junior League and Abolition Now will be making recommendations to the Multnomah County Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) Steering Committee on Friday, January 4th 2013. This event was only the beginning of a community wide engagement effort. Thank you to all who attended and participated in this critical event!
